The train ride is worth it to see the largest lake in Norway, Mjøsa.
This is a very friendly village which hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics. The main street Storgata, is a promenade with many shops and a great place for sightseeing and staying.
The city center is generally well preserved with a few wooden houses of the 19th century and beyond the Olympic Park, there are ski resorts and other nearby attractions such as an open air museum.
There is a good tourist office at the train station that can give you information about what will be open at the time of your visit. Because the city is small, it is worth booking the hotel before you go.

Very good hint, Marcio.
I wonder: you lived in Holland, is not? It's better than Norway?
Big hug!
Cool the tip, but here we are 16 degrees and I think it is very cold.
Did I get? SEMANA.lindas GOOD photos.
Do,
I think the Dutch and more excited revelers. But if you compare the beauty, education and stuff. It's hard to know.
Abs!
Dri,
just protect yourself well and enjoy the cold.
Abs!
Hi Jeff, okay?
It was time that I have not commented here on your blog! I saw that you came back here now! BUT FP ?!?!? hehehe
I wonder how complicated it is (will be almost unbearable) travel to the Nordic countries in the winter? You can do much better to go or is it another time?!
bjus
Very cool place, I love cold, and for me it's warm!
Bjs, andrea
Guta,
I express a super staff. I know people who hate this country in winter.
I think if you choose this time, have to go knowing what you find. Short days, some attractions closed or opening times lower than normal and cold rsrsrsrs.
And the good part. Attractions no queue, no waiting restaurants, hotels without the need for advance booking, attractions that only work in the winter and winter seasons, ice skating, in addition to the typical food of the time.
So your expectation is to overcome and your trip will be pretty cool.
One very important thing! Prepare to face -10, -12 degrees. This means having your own clothes preferably purchased in countries that are as cold as the Nordics.
Take a hot drink every hour (not difficult) also helps to not feel so cold.
I think that's it! bjo
Hi Marcio! Thanks for the tips! Seeing what you wrote I have another question: is it cheaper or more expensive to travel to these countries in the winter? I do not know if demand increases significantly due to the ski resorts, or prepare it (clothing and equipment) may look much the trip. This is myth, or in the summer everything is always much more expensive?
Bjus
Guta,
You remembered an important part. Because it is expensive to travel to these Nordic countries.
Here's a warning to all friends of ajanelalaranja.com - muuuuiiiito It is expensive to travel to Scandinavia.
Norway, for example, it was considered the "most expensive" in the world.
But it's worth! I only mention this so that planning is well done.
As for your question. I think the value is very similar in the different seasons. What changes are the attractions. In summer it is a walk through the Fjords in the winter are the seasons of winter.
Bjo!
Beautiful landscape, but think it should be VERY nice to know ... in the summer.
A big hug!
Beautiful Norway, Marcio!
Carmen
I loved your photos.
I was doing a report for school about Norway and when I found your blog cocegui finish my research. ^ ^
