To get to know the city, a good option is to take a city tour. I'm not very adept at walking in groups, but in this case was worth it to know the history of the main points of the city. Then I was turning me alone and the city is easy to find.

In Berlin, there is a group that does free city tours and is the Brandenburg Gate every day. Go to site newberlintours and check schedules. There are also tours to Berlin to meet the Third Reich, the wall divided Berlin and the city pubs.

And since we're talking about the Brandenburg Gate, let's remember a little history of one of the main cards of the city.

It was built in 1791 and was the westernmost gate of the city. The bronze sculpture that sits on top was stolen by Napoleon and taken to Paris and returned only when Prussia defeated Napoleon.

When the city was divided between allies and Soviets after World War II, he was a dividing line between the sectors.

Today, the square in front of the gate is the source of the main events in Berlin and can be your starting point!

4 days I was in Berlin last year and I enjoyed the city! Is quite different from other major European capitals like London, Vienna and Paris, but it is very interesting and rich in history ...

    Hi Marcio,
Berlin is a city in the world I am most familiar. I lived there a few years (as a student) and I go there whenever (the work). A tip for who wants to escape the Brandenbruger Tor and surrounding areas and venture into the neighborhood "Turkish" Berlin: take metro 1 (Orient Express), direction Varschauer Straße and get off at the station Kottbusser Tor Take Adalbert Strasse and start experimenting and savor the sweet Arabs and Turks in bakeries to find the way, there are good and cheap Turkish restaurants as well, if you need internet or phone go to Brazil in the corner of the Internet Café with Strass Adalbert Naunyn Strasse. Then, go back a little and take the left Oranien Strasse, bookstores, bistros, small bars, thrift stores and give a stop at the corner bar with Marianne Strasse, the "Bateau Ivre", yep, named after the famous poem Rimbaud. Try a table on the sidewalk, have a coffee and just look at the movement ... is the greatest happiness!

I love the Brandenburg Gate and your photos are beautiful. Congratulations. I have not read all the posts on Berlin, but the title did not see anything that made reference to the Gendarmenmarkt square - which in my opinion is one of the most beautiful spots of Berlin. If you were not there, there is a hint for next time.

    Excellent your blog!

We were in Europe in March this year. Their tips and their impressions of Berlin helped us greatly in defining who visit.
