Maybe you're on vacation and not a little to be upset, but I must give this tip to "walk" because it was one of the most exciting experiences I had in Germany. Very close to Berlin, there is a memorial to a former concentration camp. The Sachsenhausen was a place of great suffering. Pass through its gates gives a lump in my throat.

The place was a concentration camp during the Nazi and later was used by the Soviets for the same purpose.

There is an exhibition that tells the story of the place. One that caught my attention was that the photo montage of Nazi propaganda, where prisoners and guards have fun together. All set!

Then you can visit some of the dorms, the rooms of the "clinics" that were used for the experiments the Nazis and finally, the furnaces where the bodies were burned.

Visitation at the entrance is free and you can rent an "audio guide"

    Marcio excellent tip!
Visiting the camp, we will always remember what we're capable of doing bad, against each other.
I wish there were more memories like this, so we can remember that the world is made of diversity.
And we all have the right to be happy as best as we find ourselves.
Respecting others, we will respect it.
Freedom! This is the word that we should all be SCREAMING when we see a similar, being mistreated because of their color or religion.

Wow, I am preparing a post on exactly Sachsenhausen. I was there in August and the word that best defines this visit "lump in my throat."
I was after seeing the film The Boy in the striped pajamas and I was even more appreciative!
It's amazing but at the same time gives an aching heart ...

    Hello!
I just discovered your blog, and the little I've seen I love it!
    Congratulations for the initiative.
Well, seeing photos of Sachsenhausen remembered my experience there and all the emotions I had. The scenario was quite different: it was the dead of winter. So I entered it started snowing, and I could start having an idea of thousands of people had there.
It's a ride "sad" but in my opinion, should be done.
    Hugs!

    Hi Manu,

I agree with you. It's sad but it should be visited and remembered the story is to not repeat.

    Bjo and thanks for visiting!
